Recognizing each of us is made in God’s image, we are committed to the full welcome, inclusion, and celebration of human diversity, including gender, race, ethnicity, age, dis/ability, education, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic, legal, and marital status. We are here to support you wherever you are in your faith journey, embracing questions, curiosity, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
At Ascension Episcopal Church, we are free to ask life’s big questions, supported by an affirming community of curious people as we follow the way of Jesus.
Have questions about your visit? Here are some common questions and answers to help you out.
Come to the big red doors! For an accessible entrance, use the lower level doors facing 3rd Street near the left (as you face the building). There is an elevator inside that will take you up to the main level.
You will be greeted by an usher and you should receive a booklet called a "bulletin." Everything you need to follow the service will be in the bulletin. Sit where you are comfortable. Restrooms are available on the main level across from the Parish Hall.
Our first service begins at 8:00 a.m., and is a spoken word service (no music). Our 10:00 a.m. service has music, with pre-service music starting around 9:50 a.m. If you are running late, please come on in when you arrive. We are happy to see you whenever you get here.
Whatever you are comfortable in. Some folks enjoy sporting their "Sunday Best", some wear jeans and a tee shirt. The priest will be in vestments.
The bulletin will be your guide. However, you are encouraged to participate as you are able.
Children of all ages are welcome in the sanctuary throughout the service. For our younger guests, there is a Pray-ground area in the front where they can engage with various toys and resources during the service. This helps them stay engaged during the service. Parents/caregivers are encouraged to sit their children while they are participating in the Pray-ground.
If you prefer a worship service that is more quiet, orderly and with more solemnity, you may prefer to attend the 8:00 a.m. service.
At Ascension, we take our fellowship time seriously. We have Coffee Hour after both services in the Parish Hall, with plenty of snacks and, of course, coffee. Come meet some new friends.
There is disability parking directly in front of the church on 3rd Street. For an accessible entrance, please use the lower level doors facing 3rd Street that are near the left (as you face the building). There is an elevator inside that will take you up to the main level. Audio enhancements are available, just ask one of the sound techs near the back of the church for assistance. If you would like to have Communion brought to you, just let an usher know and we would be happy to come to you!
Mark your calendars for these great events coming up.
