Here at Ascension, “Free to Question” doesn’t mean you have to figure out the answers all on your own. Our Adult Formation Committee works together to provide opportunities for everyone in our community to ask, “What does it mean for me to follow Jesus?” Whether you’ve been an
Episcopalian your whole life or are just starting to think about spiritual things, join us for discussions, support groups, workshops, and more as we help each other learn how to be Christ in the world.
We are reading through Acts with the help of Acts (Interpretation Bible Study) by Charles C. Williamson.
You don’t need to have in-depth Bible knowledge to participate. In each chapter, Williamson breaks down part of the book of Acts, providing background information and some reflections that help us apply the text to our lives. To prepare you just need to read the short sections we’ll be talking about that week. The facilitator opens each session with prayer and then guides the group in a conversation about the material.
Nobody is put on the spot or forced to share. But the goal is to provide a safe place to offer your perspective and ask questions, even if you feel timid. As Anglicans, our primary engagement with Scripture happens within the liturgy. But studying Scripture outside worship is an important complement to this, because it allows us to learn from each other’s wisdom as we ask questions and seek God’s truth together.
